Federal Leadership for Relocation of Coastal Communities: Response to Severe Storms and Rising Seas

As sea levels rise, many coastal communities will face the inevitable need to relocate homes, businesses, and infrastructure to higher ground — yet no national framework exists to support that transition. CFRP co-facilitated this ELI webinar to explore what principles and policies the federal government should adopt as it develops a coordinated approach to community relocation. Panelists included Gary Griggs (UC Santa Cruz), Micah McMillan (U.S. GAO), Linda Shi (Cornell University), and A.R. Siders (University of Delaware), with Jeff Peterson moderating.
